In reply to your letter, I have to state that Mr. Allen is hardly able to perform his duties and appears to be unfit for his position.
I am directed by the Under Secretary to acknowledge your letter requesting to be informed whether it is considered desirable that Mr. Allen should attend at the Royal Mint for one week's work on half pay.
Jambo stated in reply to Mr. Cardwell that he had to judge whether any further payment of 1/2 salary should be made to Mr. Allen.
